Lenovo’s Marvelous Idea: IdeaTab A3000

IdeaTab A3000

Lenovo, a consistent competitor in the consumer electronics market recently released the IdeaTab A3000. In today’s tablet market, competition is fierce with Apple’s iPad, Samsung’s Galaxy tab and Acer’s Iconia. So, can the IdeaTab make a complete   breakthrough and create a dent in the market? First off, let’s take a look at its size and analyze its display.

IdeaTab A3000

The New lenovo tablet
Lenovo rolled out a host of new tablets in late June 2013
Dimensions(WxHxT) – 7.63″ x 4.72″ x 0.43″
Weight – 0.76 lbs
Screen Size – 7 inches
Resolution – 1024 x 600, 170 ppi
The IdeaTab is a nifty little tablet, judging by its appearance. Its 7-inch frame is at par with other smaller tablets like the iPad Mini and the soon-to-be released Galaxy Tab 3. Despite its smaller frame however, it is considerably thicker that the other tablets (but not overly thick). It is lot lighter than how it looks like at 0.76 lbs, and it feels solid. Since a tablet’s success is defined by how good its display is, the IdeaTab’s screen specs are a bit of a disappointment. The screen resolution is at a low 1024 x 600 pixels with a pixel density of 170 per inch. It seems to be below par with the current tabs on paper, but trust us, it isn’t. Despite the low quality screen, it looks really well and fits the screen perfectly well.

Processor – 1.2GHz quad-core, MTK 8389/8125
Storage – 17 GB, expandable up to 64 GB via a microSD card slot
RAM – 1024 MB RAM
Operating System – Android Jelly Bean v4.1, upgradable to v4.2

Here’s where the fun part in using the tablet. The IdeaTab is equipped with a powerful MTK quad-core processor fitted inside its small frame which guarantees that you won’t have a problem switching through and supporting high-powered applications. The tablet is a perfect tool to surf the Internet and stream content due to its speed thanks to its powerful processor. The internal storage may be a turnoff, but it has a microSD card slot which makes its storage capacity pretty much infinite. Running the show is Android’s Jelly Bean 4.1. It is upgradable to 4.2. Having an Android OS gives you access to Google Play applications, giving you a wide range of applications to choose from.

Does the IdeaTab A3000 Makes Lenovo the Powerful Mobile Entertainment Tablet?

IdeaTab A3000
Cameras – Rear, 5.0 MP, Front, 0.3 MP
Ports – Audio Jack, micro-USB
Buttons – Power and Volume Keys
Connectivity – WiFi, Bluetooth 4.0
Battery – 3500mAh Li-Polymer
The IdeaTab is armed with a fairly-decent 2592х1936 pixel, 5.0 MP primary and a 0.3 MP secondary camera. However, the biggest downside is that both cameras are not equipped with flash, giving you no capacity to take pictures or record videos in the dark. But hey, who takes photos with their tablet anyway? It has a standard 3.5 mm audio jack for headphones and speakers, a micro-USB port and has WiFi and Bluetooth connectivity. The battery meanwhile is capable of 8-hours straight of Internet browsing with a standby duration of 336 hours.
